How to Design a Goal Oriented Scenario,Loadrunner Controller providing two options one is Manual Scenario and Second one is Goal Oriented Scenario,in this type of Goal Oriented Scenarios we need to set up our goals as per performance testing requirements which you want to achieve and Loadrunner creates a scenario automatically based on set up goals.

How to Design a Goal Oriented Scenario

let’s understand the concept very clearly with following real time examples,before designing a Goal Oriented Scenario below are the prerequisites to perform in Loadrunner controller.

1. Prerequisites:

  • Goal Requirements – What you want to verify ,actual moto of load testing for http/web-services scripts etc.
  • Hits/second – Requirement
  • Required Time To Run(HH:MM:SS)
  • Number of VUsers to Run(Min and Max)
  • Create a Vuser script in Virtual User Generator

2.Create a New Goal Oriented Scenario

Please follow below steps to create or Design Goal Oriented Scenario in Loadrunner Controller
  • Open Controller and select File – New Scenario
  • In New Scenario window select Goal Oriented Scenario radio button.
  • Browse the Script you want to run
  • Select the Script – Click on Open
  • Now Click on Add button to add script
  • Click on OK button.
  • Once you click on add button it will load below window panel with default settings.

3.Set up Goal Oriented Scenario

Once goal oriented scenario window panel is open then it will display below default details,here you can change default details as per your goals.

2.Scenario Goals
Scenario Goals have below default details
  • Goal Profile Name – Hits per Second 100
  • Goal – 100.00 Hits per Second
  • Min Number of Vusers – 50
  • Max Number of Vusers – 150
  • Scenario Duration – 000:30:00 (hhh:mm:ss) after target has been achieved
  • Load Behavior – Reach the target hits per second using automatic ramp u
  • Edit Scenario Goal – Button.

4.Edit Scenario Goal

Below are the my Goal requirements and as per goal requirements i will configure in Scenario details,please follow below steps.

Goal Requirements:

  • Hits/Second – 5 hits
  • VUSers – 2(Min and Max)
  • Goal – Only 5 hits for second. Need to verify this one.
Click on Edit Scenario Goal in Scenario Goal panel and it will open Edit Scenario Goal window panel ,please enter below details as per Goal Requirements in Edit Scenario Panel window.
How to design a goal oriented scenario
Edit Scenario Goal
  • Click on New button to create New Goal Profile Name.
  • Enter New Goal Profile Name
  • Click on OK
  • Enter Reach Goal of – 5
  • Using Minimum – 2 and Maximum – 2
  • Run Time  – 5 mm
  • Click on OK button.
  • Save the Scenario
  • Once everything is perfect then click on Start Scenario button,it will open Run tab and script will start executing.
